Berwick, ME

Berwick was formerly part of Kittery. Like North & South Berwick, it is a rural to suburban town. With 2200 residents, Berwick is close to Kittery, Ogunquit & all of the Seacoast ME & NH area. The median age is 34, with young families on the rise. It has its own elementary and middle school, and feeds into Noble High School in neighboring North Berwick.

Route 9 and Route 236 are the main roads through town.

THE SCENE

While being a small town, Berwick is home to the Red Barn at Outlook Farm, the Hackmatack Playhouse, & Berwick Historical Society.

BACKSTORY

Settled around 1630 as a trading post, Berwick was originally part of the Kittery, which was the first incorporated town in Maine in 1647. It was pronounced “Barwick” in its infancy.
