5 Reasons to Sell this Fall

September 14, 2016 / Real Estate Trends, Selling

Saying good-bye to warm beach days and endless summer nights does not have to mean returning to the confines and clutter of your home for the winter.  Fall is a great time to clean out the house and also a great time to make a change such as moving.  One of our favorite real estate blogs, Keeping Matters Current, lists 5 reasons to sell your home this Fall:

1.  Demand is STRONG!

According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), buyer demand continues to be strong.

2.  Competition is LESS

NAR’s Existing Home Sales Report shows that there is still less than a 6-month supply of homes on the market, which is what is needed for a normal housing market.  This means there are still fewer homes for sale than buyer demand.  As positive equity returns for homeowners, more homes will begin to appear on the market, which means more competition down the line.  For now, home prices remain higher, and the chances of you selling your home are greater with fewer homes on the market.

3.  The Process will be QUICKER

Fannie Mae predicts home sale activity that will surpass that of 2007 over the next year.  This means banks will be backlogged with loan inquiries and longer periods before closing dates.  Selling now will be quicker for this reason.

4.  Moving UP Now Saves Money

If you are thinking of moving to a larger, pricier home, now is the time to move.  It is predicted that prices will increase about 5% over the next year.  Freddie Mac’s latest report states you can lock in an interest rate of around 3.46% right now, but interest rates are expected to increase over the next year.

5.  It’s Time to Move ON

Only you can determine when the right time to move is for you and your family.  However, if you are leaning towards moving soon, these are some great reasons to consider listing your home this Fall!
